Become a Zoo parent with the Animals Depend on People, Too (A.D.O.P.T.) program for an animal at the Racine Zoo for an entire year. Your animal will remain at the Zoo where you can visit it all year long. By adopting an animal, you are directly contributing to its growth and wellbeing, specifically the best possible food, care and shelter available.  Most importantly, you get to give your love to your favorite animal.

There are many animals and giving levels to choose from, and we have plants, too.

Animals and plants available for adoption include:

MAMMALS: Alpaca, Ankole-Watusi, Black-handed Spider Monkey, Blue-eyed Black Lemur, Fennec Fox, Meerkat, Red Kangaroo, White-handed Gibbon, Transvaal Lion, Amur Tiger, Andean Bear, Masai Giraffe, Plains Zebra, Orangutan, Eastern Black Rhinoceros, Hoffman's Two-Toed Sloth, Canadian Lynx, Common Wallaroo, Southern Coati, West Caucasian Tur, Striped Skunk, Prehensile-Tailed Porcupine, Long-Tailed Chinchilla, Straw-Colored Fruit Bat.

BIRDS: African Penguin, American White Pelican, European White Stork, Common Peafowl, Guam Rail, Cattle Egret, Yellow-crowned Amazon parrot, Emu, Eurasian Roller, Helmeted Guineafowl, Maribou Stork, Ostrich, Budgerigar, White Umbrella Cockatoo.

REPTILES / AMPHIBIANS: Eastern Massasauga, Timber Rattlesnake, Western Fox Snake, Andean Milk Snake, Bull Snake, Columbian Rainbow Boa, Pickerel Frog, Grey Tree Frog, American Toad, American Alligator, Blanding's Turtle, Desert Tortoise, Tiger Salamander.

PLANTS: Cedar of Lebanon, River Birch, Crape Myrtle, Japanese Fiber Banana, Southern Magnolia, Bald Cypress, Red Margined Bamboo, Blue Beaked Yucca, Serviceberry, Prickly Pear Cactus.

Once you choose your animal or plant and a giving level, that will determine what you or your gift recipient will receive. Everyone who sponsors an animal receives a fact sheet, certificate and picture of the adopted animal.
