Tickets Still Available for Wednesday's Animal Crackers Performance
Racine – Tickets are still available for the Brubeck Brothers Quartet’s Animal Crackers Concert Series performance this Wednesday night at the Racine Zoo. Tickets are 20 dollars for world-recognized jazz performers. Gates open at 5:30 pm with the concert beginning at 7:00 pm. Though the quartet’s style is rooted in “straight ahead” jazz, their concerts reveal an inherent ability to explore. They play old time signatures while naturally integrating the influences of funk, blues and world music.
“We are pleased to offer the Brubeck Brothers Quartet to the Animal Crackers Concert-goers this summer. They are probably the most traditional jazz group in the line-up. Their commitment to the jazz genre and their family history is to be respected and enjoyed,” said David Maack, President of the Animal Crackers Committee.
Mini-Season tickets which include three tickets to any of the four concerts are $50. This ticket package features the flexibility to use one ticket at three separate concerts, all at one or mix and match to fit a guest’s preference. Single concert tickets are also available for $20 each. Tickets can be purchased at the Racine Zoo by calling 262-636-9189 or going to www.racinezoo.org For the convenience of concert goers, they are also available at all Johnson Bank locations in Racine and The Journal Times in Racine.
The series continues August 6 with an upcoming performance featuring Poncho Sanchez. This Grammy-winning percussionist and band leader takes the stage with his patented blend of Latin jazz, funk, classic R&B and more. As the leader of the most popular Latin jazz group in the world today, it’s his congas and seasoned ensemble that do the talking with classic songs that put the emphasis on fiery grooves and smooth jams. He is sure to heat up the lakefront.
The concert series closes with John Pizzarelli on August 20. John is back by popular demand after his performance in 2007 was nearly washed out by a thunderstorm. With 21 albums including his recent tribute to Frank Sinatra, this son of legendary guitar legend Bucky Pizzarelli has a unique mix of Sinatra favorites, classic pop, jazz, and swing which set the standard for modern jazz.
All concerts are rain or shine. A variety of culinary delights are available for purchase at the General Rental Crackers Café.
