Zoovies Feature Film is E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial

Racine- On Friday, July 18, the Racine Zoo will host its second Zoovies presentation featuring the beloved classic, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. Steven Spielberg’s 1982 Oscar Award Winner will be shown on a theater-sized inflatable movie screen at the Kiwanis Memorial Amphitheater located on Zoo campus.  The showing of the family film featuring a group of Earth children who help a stranded alien botanist return home begins at dusk.

“Thirty-somethings might remember this film for the introduction of Reeses Pieces candy and E.T.’s rewiring of the Speak and Spell to attempt to communicate with his homeland,” says Jay Christie, President and CEO, Racine Zoo, “We decided to change things up a little and present a “classic” that parents who saw the movie at the theatre might want to share with their children in a theater-type setting.”

E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial is the second of three movies that will be featured at the zoo this summer.  The final film that will be shown on Friday, August, 15 is Bee Movie.

Admission is free for Racine Zoo Members and $1 for Educators Credit Union Members.  All other admissions are as follows, $4 for adults 16 years and older, $2 for children 3-15 years old, and children under 3 are free.

During the movie, popcorn, beverages, and candy will be available for purchase.  Zoovie-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy this unique outdoor theater experience.
