Tickets Still Available for Wednesday's Poncho Sanchez Performance

Racine Tickets are still available for Grammy-winning percussionist and band leader, Poncho Sanchez’s performance this Wednesday night at the Racine Zoo.  Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gates for this world-renown artist known for his blend of Latin jazz, funk, and classic R &B..  Gates open at 5:30 pm with the concert beginning at 7:00 pm.

“We are thrilled to welcome Poncho Sanchez.  He is a great story-teller and easily the leader of the most popular jazz group in the world today.  His congas do the talking adding spark and sizzle to his smooth jams,” said David Maack, President of the Animal Crackers Committee.

Mini-Season tickets, which include three tickets to any of the four concerts are $50.  This ticket package features the flexibility to use one ticket at three separate concerts, all at one or mix and match to fit a guest’s preference. 

Single concert tickets are also available for $20 each. Tickets can be purchased at the Racine Zoo by calling 262-636-9189 or going to www.racinezoo.org, or for the convenience of concert goers, they are also available at all Johnson Bank locations in Racine and The Journal Times in Racine.

The concert series closes with John Pizzarelli on August 20.  John is back by popular demand after his performance in 2007 was nearly washed out by a thunderstorm. With 21 albums including his recent tribute to Frank Sinatra, this son of legendary guitar legend Bucky Pizzarelli has a unique mix of Sinatra favorites, classic pop, jazz and swing set the standard for modern jazz.

All concerts are rain or shine. A variety of culinary delights are available for purchase at the General Rental Crackers Café. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase at the Zoo during the events and wine and liquor can also be purchased in advance by calling Timers Beverage Center at 262.637.2704 and be picked up upon your arrival to the concert. 

City ordinance forbids any person from bringing any alcoholic beverage into any City park including the Racine Zoo.

Over the past 22 years, Animal Crackers fans have supported the Racine Zoo with funds totaling nearly $550,000 to help improve the Zoo and care for its animal inhabitants. The mission of the Racine Zoological Society is to foster an enlightening and affordable wildlife experience that improves the bond between people and nature. The Society will provide for the recreation and education of the people, the conservation of wildlife and wild places, and the advancement of science.
