Zoo-B-Que

Don’t miss the 3rd Annual Zoo-B-Que at the Racine Zoo – September 26 and 27.  This fall classic centers around a Kansas City Barbeque Society barbeque competition bringing nearly 40 contestants from the Midwest and beyond.  While the “pros” battle it out during their two-day event, the Zoo has a host of special events and entertainment especially for  novice barbequers and plain old barbeque eaters!   Friday night’s events start at 5:00 pm and end at 9:00 pm, while Saturday’s family-focused events run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Friday, September 26th  

Looking for something fun to do? Check out Zoo-B-Que.  Fun events on Friday night include a Backyard Grilling and People’s Choice Compeition (see below) as well as live music by Melvin Barker and the Blues Cruise, yummy food and drinks plus a great atmosphere to enjoy a crisp fall evening, gates to the Zoo open at 5:00 with an event admission cost of $10 (which includes two draft Miller Lites or MGDs or sodas at the Beverage Oasis).

Sign up now for the  Leinenkugel Backyard Grilling Competition!  This competition calls upon “Joe Average” grillers (you know who you are) to grill-up their specialties (from fish to ribs to burgers and beyond!) for VIP judging and special prizes!  Click Here for more info!

Are you the best EATER on your block?

Don’t miss 2007’s most popular event!  For just $20, Zoo-B-Que goers can purchase a wrist band designating them as a judge in the Zoo-B-Que Kansas City Barbeque Society People’s Choice competition.  Visit the grills of approximately 20 professional competitors for a sampling of their tasty BBQ cookin’.  Judges will fill out an official ballot will filling their stomachs with a great variety of treats!  The $20 wristband (just at $10 upgrade from the basic Zoo entry fee). Only 150 of the People’s Choice ballots available!!!!

Saturday, September 27th  

A fabulous fall family day at the Zoo! Enjoy the animals, the Zoo Choo Express and all the Zoo has to offer plus the excitement of Zoo-B-Que.  Special events for the day include U.S. Cellular’s LIVE Radio Disney Show, face painting, juggling, crafts and fun and games provided by The Party Company as well and the announcements of the winners of the KCBS Barbeque competition.  Admission prices to the Zoo for the day are $5.00 for Adults, $4.00 for Seniors, $3.00 for kids 3-15 and FREE for members and kids under 3
